Meet The Author
Since National Read Across America Day occurred on Wednesday, I’m going to talk about some of the books I’ve published, what inspires me, and what’s coming in the near future.
I have written over 21 books, notebooks, journals, and sketchbooks!
My favorite book that I have written is actually the first one I ever published, “Please Use Your Common Sense”. This book was inspired when my daughter, Laila, asked, “Mommy, what is common sense”. When I was growing up, I was often told by my family to use my common sense and when I became a parent, I started using the same language to speak to my daughter, not fully aware she didn't know what it meant. I realized that this book was needed because she was not the only kid in this new generation that is not truly thinking before they act - I questioned if many even had any common sense at all.
I’m extremely thankful for my daughter Laila for challenging me by asking questions when she doesn’t understand. Because of her curiosity, we have successfully co-written a book, sparked a much-needed conversation, and inspired parents to grow with their children. In “Please Use Your Common Sense”, every event actually happened at home with my daughter. I felt it was important to include real-life scenarios to make it as realistic as possible and include things a child would actually say themselves.
When I’m not writing or being a mom and wife, my favorite thing to do is explore and further my businesses success. I am constantly thinking of ways to add to my small business, researching fashion, and creating new ideas to share. My favorite hobbies include dancing and singing - and even though my voice isn’t great, I don’t care! Full blown concerts and dance parties are a common occurrence in my household.
My favorite book is “50 Shades of Grey” by E.L. James, and my favorite genre is either romantic novels or self-help/ entrepreneurship books. I really enjoy reading books that help my mind and business to prosper and grow.
A current project that I am working on is an after the baby journal. This book will include the things people don’t tell you when you are pregnant or having kids. It will let new moms know that it will not be easy and that there will be challenges, but they are not alone.
