When to Splurg and when to Save!!

Sometimes it can be hard to decide when you should budget versus when you should pay full price. We’re here to give you some helpful tips on where you can spend a little and where you can save a little.

Splurge:

What is a Splurge? Essentially it's something that you spend your money on maybe once a year or it's gifted to you. A splurge is something that you’ve been saving for or something that you’ve had your eye on for a minute.

When you’re looking for something to splurge on, make sure that it’s timeless. Don’t pick something that falls into the latest trends, you want an item that you will forever appreciate.

Make sure that the item is something that you would wear frequently, you want to get your money’s worth when it comes to these items, because they're going to COST! Try using the price to wear formula, this way your splurge can be used to continuously elevate your looks.

Make sure Splurge actually gets to see the light of day, don’t let it sit in your closet collecting dust.

Here are a few things that we think are splurge worthy:

  1. An amazing Winter Coat

  2. A designer bag in a neutral, or your favorite, color

  3. Jewelry that you’ll wear everyday; like a simple necklace or some diamond studs

  4. Designer sunglasses, if you can keep up with them

Spend:

Although you may think that this category is the same as your splurges. Your spent pieces make up your wardrobe building basics.

This category is split into two sections: frequency of use and fit needs.

  • Frequency of Use: What are pieces that you wear often? The more you wear something, the better you need to take care of it. This also means that the item should be of a higher quality, which is normally an investment. So if you were it often, spend a little extra on it.

  • Fit Needs: Where do you have the fit issues? Normally, the better the quality the better the fit. You also might need to start paying for alterations on some pieces.

Here are a few things you might want to spend more on:

  1. Bras

  2. Denim, we all know how hard it can be to find that perfect pair of jeans

  3. Blazers and Suit coats

  4. Shoes

  5. Jackets and Coats

Save:

Spend the smallest amount of money on pieces that you probably won't wear that often. Other thing to save on include items that would be used as layers or considered “disposable.”

Here are some things to save on:

  1. Special occasion dresses, buy on sale or Rent the Runway.

  2. Tanks, tees, and basic tops

  3. Sweats and hoodies

  4. Printed or bold pieces

  5. Trendy items like accessories

Wishing you confidence, happiness, and BLING
